Advantages of Water Wash Paint Booth over Dry Paint Booth
The major advantages of a water wash paint booth make it the preferred choice for high-production and mass-production painting environments:
No routine expenses like filter changes or keeping stocks of replacement filters — unlike dry back paint booths.
Water used in a water wash spray booth can be used over and over again using latest systems like paint sludge remover.

How to Select a Water Wash Spray Booth
Autocoat Engineering, with its many years of experience and large number of product data, has made easy selection charts which are very useful while selecting the right water wash paint booth for your painting activity.
Depending on the paint consumption per day or on a per-shift basis, either Autocoat Engineering Standard (AES models) or AES Special (custom-made models) can be selected. All parts and components used in our system are 100% Indian made — making it a truly Indian made spray booth.

Custom-made models designed for specific paint consumption, product size and production requirements. Engineered to order based on Autocoat’s selection chart methodology.
For sampling work and very low paint consumption — the smallest or mini model of Autocoat’s in-house production. Very low cost but with all features of a full-sized water spray booth.
The lab water wash booth consists of a full booth tank filled with water along with distribution plates, base plates and rows of eliminators. The blower used is of a smaller capacity but with a centrifugal suction — this kind of suction helps in powerful velocity in the paint booth. Unlike other competitors who give tube axial blowers that produce poor suction velocities, Autocoat’s lab booth delivers full performance even at the smallest scale.
Conveyorised Water Wash Paint Booths
Other areas where the water spray booth plays a major part in the finishing industry are mass production conveyorised water wash booths. In such circumstances, the dry spray booth cannot handle the large number of waste spray litres or paint fumes.
Tornado Effect Technology — High-Pressure Centrifugal Washing
Water wash booths contain large quantities of water which is continuously made to create a tornado effect with the use of high-pressure centrifugal blowers and special elements of the washing chamber. The paint-rich mixture with air is thoroughly washed before it leaves the extraction zone.
The cyclic effect of water on paint makes it heavy, thereby depositing the paint pigments in water. Autocoat provides special booth powder for the water tank which increases the density of waste spray and takes it to the bottom of the paint tank.
3 rows of eliminators are placed in the washing chamber so that maximum paint gets deposited on the eliminator plates — ensuring the cleanest possible air exhaust.
In conveyorised spray painting, if the water wash paint booths are connected with a paint sludge removal system, the hassles of removing waste paint sludge are greatly reduced. The paint sludge removal system is capable of removing 1 to 2 kg of sludge every 10 to 15 minutes. These systems can only be incorporated in water wash paint booths — not in dry booths.

Autocoat-designed water spray booths are normally of the pumpless type. The no-pump water wash booth is the latest design in the painting field. Previously, spray booths would run on a tube axial fan and a water pump to supply water on the water screen — this method is now fully outdated as the pump chokes, reducing the efficiency of the spray booth.

Key Features — Water Curtain for Plastic & Furniture Painting
Even though the pumpless water wash booth is very versatile, for very specific areas like plastic painting lines, ABS painting, small toys painting lines and furniture painting, it is sometimes very necessary to have a water screen on the front side of the paint booth if painting volumes are huge.
A specific dust created by the plastic and furniture paints has a static tendency to stick on the vertical wall of wet-type booths, creating a sticky atmosphere in the painting zone as layers of paint dust increase. Autocoat Engineering — through study of the paint dust — has developed water type booths with capabilities of centrifugal suction draft and addition of a water curtain to enhance quick discharge of the paint sticky dust into the paint booth water tank, helping customers achieve trouble-free painting operation.
Quick Fill & Make-Up Water Arrangement
Autocoat wet paint booths are comprised of manual & quick fill and make-up water arrangements. These make-up water arrangements play an important feature during the continuous use of the spray booth.
Water, due to constant evaporation, reduces the level in the tank — this can hamper the suction capacity of the water wash booth as the water level needs to be maintained constantly. Manually making up water is not practical as per Autocoat Engineering’s study. That is why the quick fill & make-up water arrangement becomes a very useful feature — the painter can use the paint booth without monitoring water levels.
100% In-House Fabrication — Punched Holes & Bolted Construction
Autocoat has constant checks and inspection of raw material at every stage — from incoming to bending, to welding, hole punching and more. Almost all water wash spray booth fabrication work contains punched holes and bolted construction.
This technique helps Autocoat and its customers to assemble, dismantle and re-assemble the spray booth if the location needs to be changed — offering unmatched flexibility for factory relocations or line rearrangements.
Autocoat takes serious responsibility in the functioning of each booth by assembling and conducting actual blower testing in the factory before any paint booth is dispatched to the customer.
