Tyre Painting Booth & Tire
Paint Booth – Autocoat Engineering
Autocoat Engineering is a 35-year-old company awarded for manufacturing specialised Tyre Painting Booths for major tyre manufacturers in India — with repeat orders from CEAT Tyres for Bhandup and Ambernath plants. Leading tyre paint booth manufacturer since 1985, based in Thane, Maharashtra.

About Tyre Painting Booths
With the modernisation happening in each field of science and technology, tyres are also one of the important areas where adoption of new methods adds to the longer life of tyres. A tyre is a rubber ring placed over the rim of a wheel to provide traction and reduce road shocks — especially a hollow inflated ring (pneumatic tyre) consisting of a reinforced outer casing enclosing an inner tube.
Autocoat is a 35-year-old company that has worked with most products and companies across the automobile sector for painting. Due to this experience, Autocoat was awarded many painting booths for tyre painting. Tire paint booth or tyre painting is not a usual kind of method followed by all tyre manufacturers — smaller tyre manufacturers are not familiar with this kind of technology.
Large tyre manufacturers like CEAT Tyres, Mahansaria Tyres and a few more are practising this kind of tyre painting method in Tyre Painting Booths — specifically for tractor and trailer tyres.
Tyre Internal Painting – Old vs New Method
There are two methods for treating the internal areas of tyres before vulcanization — the traditional mica powder method and the modern water-based paint method:
Old Method — Mica Powder Spraying
Dust collector with powder gunsPreviously, mica in a very tiny atomized powdered form was sprayed in the internal areas of the tyres. The quantity of mica powder differs as per the size of the tyre. Normally dust collectors with powder guns are used for such kind of spraying techniques.
- Mica powder sprayed in atomized form
- Powder quantity varies by tyre size
- Dust collectors with powder guns used
- Acts as anti-sticking releasing agent
- Prevents inner rubber sticking to mould
- Still in use at some smaller manufacturers
New Method — Water Based Paint
Spray guns + Paint Booth for TyresWater-based paint spraying is the modern special method used to spray in the interior of tyres before vulcanization. Due to the light stickiness of the liquid and high atomisation from spray guns, it is always advised to spray with a dedicated Paint Booth for Tyres.
- Specialised spray guns & compressed air pots
- High atomisation for even coverage
- Must be used with a dedicated tyre paint booth
- Acts as releasing agent — prevents mould sticking
- Prevents sulphur movement during curing
- Improves tyre resilience and tensile strength
Mica Powder – Properties & Role in Tyre Production
Mica powder is a highly useful component as an anti-sticking and anti-blocking compound in the production of rubber tyres. Applied as a dusting and releasing agent inside the tyre, it plays a critical role in the vulcanization process:
Anti-Sticking Releasing Agent
Prevents the inner rubber and casing of tyres from sticking to the mould during the vulcanization process — enabling clean release without damage to the tyre.
Sulphur Movement Control
Prevents movement of sulphur while permitting the air and moisture to escape during curing — creating a uniform internal structure throughout the tyre body.
Improves Rubber Properties
As a rubber additive and filler, mica improves the resilience, hardness, tensile strength and tear resistance of rubber articles — contributing to longer tyre life.
Wide Application Range
Used for automobile tyres, motor bike tyres, heavy duty tyres and aircraft tyres — wherever vulcanization of rubber to a mould requires a reliable releasing agent.

How the Tyre Painting Booth Works
The necessity of a Paint Booth for tyres is due to the smoke and paint dust generated by spray guns during tyre internal painting — which must be quickly captured before reaching the surrounding area. Autocoat’s Tyre Paint Booth works in the following sequence:
-
1Spray guns applied inside tyre interior — water-based paint is atomised and sprayed on the internal surface of the tyre with specialised spray guns and compressed air pots.
-
2Paint dust and smoke captured immediately — the tyre paint waste overspray and smoke generated by the spray guns is quickly drawn into the booth’s filtration system through adequate exhaust velocity.
-
3Multiple series of metallic baffles — the tyre paint waste spray passes through multiple series of metallic baffles that arrest and capture paint particles at each stage of filtration.
-
4Final filters — after the metallic baffles, the air passes through final filters which capture remaining fine particulate matter — leaving only clean, permissible air to be exhausted out of the ducts.
-
5Clean air exhausted — only clean, permissible air is released out of the exhaust ducts — ensuring full compliance with pollution board norms for particulate matter.
With the performance of Autocoat’s spray booths for tyres, Autocoat was able to receive repeat tyre paint booth orders from CEAT Tyres for their Bhandup and Ambernath plants. Autocoat has also recently supplied paint booths for truck tyres and tractor tyre painting — demonstrating the versatility of the tyre booth design across different tyre sizes and types.

Tyre Painting Booth – Key Features
Multiple Metallic Baffle Filtration
Multiple series of metallic baffles arrest and extract the maximum amount of paint dust and smoke generated during tyre internal spraying — when spray is applied in the right direction.
Pollution Board Norm Compliance
Final filters after the metallic baffles ensure only clean, permissible air is exhausted out of the ducts — fully meeting pollution board norms for particulate matter.
Suitable for Water-Based Paint
Specifically designed for high-atomisation water-based paint spraying systems — capturing the fine mist and smoke generated when spraying inside tyre interiors.
100% In-House Manufacturing
Every tyre paint booth is manufactured, assembled, numbered and tested at Autocoat’s Thane facility — with live trials given to the customer before dispatch for complete satisfaction.
AutoCAD Engineered Design
Designing and calculation are the main keys before any manufacturing begins. Every booth is AutoCAD engineered to suit the specific tyre size, production volume and factory layout.
Bolted, Dismantlable Construction
Autocoat paint booths are completely bolted and can easily be dismantled and shifted to any factory location — minimising hassle during plant changes or facility relocation.
